[Current Mood |autistic]
[Current Music |autism]

The word bathos has been in my clipboard (is that the correct term?) for the past week. It is a noun used identify the "effect of anticlimax created by an unintentional lapse in mood from the sublime to the trivial or ridiculous."

Since it has been almost three months since my last inane update, this post should effectively bring everyone up to speed.

March
-Public transportation
-College
-Friendship with Niamh, neo-Nazi, who I'm sure dislikes me as of this writing. Here is her myspace (http://myspace.com/oxashtraygirlxo)! Everything she does is ridiculously studied, from the "I am an Anne Rice novel come to life." written on her notebook to the pictures of Charlie, Adolf, and Jeffrey (Dahmer, that is) she has hanging up in her room. I could say that I completely dislike her, but that's not completely true as she's kind of the only "friend" I've made. Heh.. Favorite moment? Discussing the merits of Charles Manson's recorded output.
-English club meeting every wednesday, where afterwards I wait in the library, occupy myself with books for 2 hours, then go back to meet with the same people to watch a movie. It will usually last until about 5:00.
-Kevin, fellow student, as my intellectual enemy. He was lost, I wanted friends, so I tried to help him find his class, which turned out to be my class as well. Needless to say, I fucked up and had us going around in circles trying to find this room. When we finally found it I sat in a row of empty seats; Kevin moved to the other side of the class room. He eventually revealed himself to be that kid who'll have conversations with the professor during class, but in an annoying, self-righteous way. I tried to compete with him in our philosophy class, and was fully satisfied when one day the professor remarked to a bored classroom that "maybe philosophy is only for me, Kevin, and Tristan." Which was impressive, since most of my answers involved speaking in a series of stammers
-Dream, wherein I was impotent.
-Meg and Ryan, appear unannounced at my house, in the middle of the night, in an unsuccessful attempt to force me to socialize. Earnest, histrionic, embarrassing, humorous.
-Trip to Boston. Objectives included visiting Meg, getting atop a distant hill, actually getting to Boston, having adventures, getting drunk on St. Patrick's Day. Not all of these were achieved. I am dubbed "Trickstan," which was especially appropriate considering that on the last night I was flagged down by cars whilst walking the streets. Peter Valentine of Cambridge, espoused Electro Magnetic Martial Arts. We received pamphlets describing said defensive technique against: human clone bombs, polar flips, beast computers, carnivorous trees, among others. I should probably scan this as it's pretty awesome. Obscene drunkness inside a theatre, though I wasn't of the drunk party. Hours later I completely forgot how to interact with people and scared two kids who were working at the Emerson radio station. They went inside and played "I Was Born A Unicorn" by the Unicorns (which I identified despite having never heard it), Cat Power's "The Greatest" (which I not-so-secretly enjoy), and "Rise Up With Fists!!" by Jenny Lewis. Soon enough, I felt like I was in Garden State. We drove past the Stop-N-Shop, but the radio wasn't on.
-Reclusiveness begins, as March marked the last time I saw Kerry, Meg, and Ryan. (I saw the latter two today, perhaps ending reclusiveness?)
-I walk home instead of taking the bus for the majority of the month.

April
-Public Transportation
-More college.
-I spoke to a new person, Teresa, another racist, who refused to read an assigned book because it's unnatural for a white man to defend anyone outside his race. Conversation ends within minutes. Wouldn't you know it, she's friends with Niamh. They meet up in a hallway three days out of the week to make loud, offensive conversation about black people & Jews.
-Self-esteem, abysmal.
-Friends are generally unavailable, especially when they are called in the middle of the night. I am desperate for attention.
-I start taking the bus again, regularly.

MAY
-Public transportation
-College
-Tati, as respite, on the 1st (also throughout months of March & April, although sporadically).
-I am lively for all of three days.
-Woman inside the bus preaches the gospel, loudly. I want to laugh, but avert my eyes and bite my skin.
-I am ripped off by a machine, yelled at by a woman who should be doing her job, and do not complain at customer service in Newark. I still am without $20

Currently I am stressed out, looking for a job, and doing everything that is possible to keep me from writing research papers (this includes updating my livejournal).

Also of great import,
I would like someone to accompany me to the Frick Collection because I didn't get to enjoy it the last time I was there. Takers?
Congratulations if you got this far. Really, you'd think that the lack of updates would mean things are going on. I hope to write superior entries soon, ok?

I didn't think my last entry was posted that long ago! Damn. I really do intend to update more, but writing has become so taxing (in my mind at least) because I feel like it'd be too out of the blue.
I'm being harrassed at the moment, so to quickly update the public on my life, I will describe the glamourous college lifestyle that I now lead, in one word:

mundane.

thank you & goodnight

On Orientation: [Jul. 18th, 2005|10:44 pm]
[Current Music |tom tom club - genius of love]

I'm glad to be commuting.

Sadly enough, it wasn't as bad. I roomed with this kid, Marco, from my high school. All that really means is he felt comfortable enough to parade around our room shirtless, persuading me to exercise with him. Both nights were spent wide awake being regaled with stories of slutty girls. It was wonderful. Thankfully, April McKee was there to make the experience more tolerable. We laughed at everyone around us

Unlike everyone else, I cannot wait for the summer to end. Dot Dash doesn't even seem likely anymore. wutevah.

[Current Music |fugees - fu-gee-la]

Whoever owned the ipod before we found it has a somewhat decent taste in music, ranging from Total Crap! to Really Good Shit. So a thank you is in order because now I have an iPod and an obsession with the Fugees.

An update, just so I remember [Apr. 21st, 2005|09:45 pm]
[Current Music |Shangri-Las - The Train From Kansas City (my new favorite)]

I saw Sonic Youth at Maxwell's on the 16th. Thurston Moore was sitting near the front window which caused me to have a fit. Because of the lack of parking, we had to drive around the block two more times, and giggle at Thurston Moore again. Just to continue the streak of running into Sonic Youth members, Kim Gordon was outside talking on her phone. Long story short, we got into the show (after a lot of scheming and giggling) despite it being sold out. The door guys were nice and let us in, just like they did to our new Australian friends. The performance was great. Maxwell's is a pretty small venue, and it was cool that we saw them in such an atmosphere. The whole room was vibrating!
Earlier that same day, I went to the St. Peter's open house in Jersey City. Nice campus, close to New York. Needless to say, I'll most likely be going thurrr, because I'm in love with JC.

Pictures I did not take.. )

disjointed [Apr. 7th, 2005|11:03 pm]
[Current Mood |see the breaking glass]
[Current Music |in the underpass]

Confusion! Humor? I ordered a used Sonic Youth cd from Amazon awhile ago, and was excited to see it in the mailbox today. Attached to said cd, was a free sample (!) of some "Cesar's"  (Sophisticated Food For Sophisticated Dogs.)

Paranoia! I think freshmen make fun of me. One who is Patricia's brother, and one who likes Slipknot. The latter tried to convince everyone he had sex with his twelve year old neighbor and has a nose far larger than mine could ever be.

On top of all this, I cannot attend thee anarcho-feminist sleepover extravaganza of the year. I'm sure it would've been something to brag about. hahaha

I bet they're jumping rope and playing with cut up dolls as I type this

[Current Music |anything but ike and tina]

I've been very disappointed with soulseek lately. The search function's been getting progressively crappier which each update. Another disappointment is the lack of Ike and Tina on my computer.

I think this should be one of those posts where everyone suggests new music.

Mr & Mrs Sonic Youth (contain the giggles):
04-16 - Maxwell's
+ several other dates in the nearby area
Ponys:
04-7&8 - Bowery Ballroom, NY

Also, a note to Meg:
Blue.

just look at those skills!

Schlemeel, schlemazel! [Jan. 18th, 2005|12:25 am]
I feel the need to the update this thing, even though nothing too exciting has been going on.
My weekend was a bit of waste. I rode subways all of Saturday with Kerry because we were trying to make our way into Queens to see a double feature of "Un Chien Andalou" and "L'Age d'Or."
This would be at the Museum of the Moving Image. Hopefully we'll go back for Pink Flamingos.

Another highlight: I'm giving Bianca a wake up call at 3.

A candid photo. )
